Now companies that have to compensate for their carbon footprint are able to purchase carbon credits from companies that are buying up huge swaths of timber in the US rather than log the timber. It is a newer business opportunity for logging companies, foresters and others and in my opinion will only continue to grow as a business as more and more pressure is put upon companies that use lots of energy.  Article in today’s Wall Street Journal on the situation.
